About Mauritz

Mauritz spend most of his childhood growing up in a small-town Tzaneen SA. He was born in March 1963 and first picked up the guitar around the age of 9 yrs old.

“I grew up in the times before YouTube and Internet it was still just radio and TV. I remember I used to listen to my parents old vinyl’s when I started playing and trying to mimic the sounds that I heard” -Mauritz states.

Music has always had a magnetic drawing power for Mauritz even as young child. His career has taken him all over the world and broadened his musical influences. He started his first band “ Razor ” opening for the likes of Robben Ford in the early 90’s. Subsequently , Lotz has shared the stage with various international and SA artists opening for the likes of Roberta Flack, The Bee Gees, The Rolling Stones, Ronan Keaton, Eric Clapton, Sting, Midnight Oil, Joan Armatrading, OMD, Trevor Rabin, Spice Girls, Dana Winner, Belinda Carlisle, Leo Sayer.

Mauritz now follows his other passion in composing and writing music especially film score music and still performs for the pure joy of it
